Works in progress

There’s a team
That we root for
We go mad
When they score.

Whether home
Or away
We will cheer
For San Jose.

We will sing and we’ll cheer for San Jose
Cheer for San Jose
Cheer for San Jose
We will sing and we’ll cheer for San Jose
Cheer for San Jose
Cheer for San Jose

Better fans
There are few
We love the Quakes
Although they’re new

Loyalty
Is what we’ll pay
So we can cheer
For San Jose

We will sing and we’ll cheer for San Jose
Cheer for San Jose
Cheer for San Jose
We will sing and we’ll cheer for San Jose
Cheer for San Jose
Cheer for San Jose

Falling in love again
Never wanted to

Falling in love again
Never wanted to
What am I to do
I can’t help it
- Variation of Marlene Deitrich’s “Falling in Love Again”. Sung at the start of the game, right after kickoff

Stand Up, if you hate the galaxy.
    repeated.
    followed by San Jose clap-clap-clap
    San Jose clap-clap-clap,
    San Jose clap-clap-clap.

Ten Men went to bed, went to bed with landon.
    only a joke,

There should be a Joe Cannon chant considering he was the only original quake on the team to win with us.

  2. Yup, Old Gray hair can be replaced with Joe Cannon, now. :) The song was, after all, orginally for Joe.

We should replace DeRo’s song too.
    Ivan Guerrero?

  3. I changed the Pat Onstad chant to Joe Cannon. I think we should wait and see what 6-syllable player performs well before we give DeRo’s song to anyone. –Bill.

  4. I am a fan of the simple slow start of:

    "Oh when the Quakes
    Oh when the Quakes
Oh when the Quakes go marching in
Oh how I want to be in that number
Oh when the Quakes go marching in"

  9. I know some people were thinking about a song for ROB. How about some version of “Danny Boy” but Ronnie Boy?

  10. As a Chelsea fan, I realized that, well… they’re flags are blue… and our flags are blue…

We’ll keep the Blue Flag flyin’ high.

That said, I think we need a stadium before we can finish this song.

  11. i just check out the ultras website, and they have a great idea of putting a youtube link of the cheers under the actual cheer. i am going to start working on getting all the fan groups to colaborate, so we can have some true football cheers where fans cheer from across the stadium to each other. if you have a contact person, please give them my email address.

  12. Earthquakes adaptation Of Celtic Chant:

Hail Hail, the Quakes are back,
What the hell do we care,
What the hell do we care,
Hail Hail, the Quakes are back,
What the hell do we care now
For it’s a grand old team to play for,
For it’s a grand old team to see,
And if you know your history,
Its enough to make your heart,
    GO-OH-OH-OH!
We don’t care what the Riot Squad says, (replace Riot Squad with Texian Army in games vs. Houston)

What the hell do we care,
    For we only know,
That there’s gonna be a show,
And San Jose will be there.

Sure it’s the best darn team in this land
and the players they are grand,
    We support the Earthquakes
‘cos they are the finest in the land we love them.
We’ll be there to give Huckerby a cheer
    When the League flag flies,

And the cheers go up ‘cos we know the MLS Cup

is coming home to rest at the Buck Shaw!

  14. Earthquakes version of the notorious Billy Boys called

The Yallop Boys (in the tune of Marching Through Georgia):

Hello, hello, we are Yallop Boys
Hello, hello, you’ll hear us by our noise
And if you are a Galaxy fan (Houston if against the Dynamo)
    Surrender or you’ll die
For we are the Joe Cannon boys

  15. I’ve noticed the best teams in the world have some pretty wild chants. I think San Jose can match anyone!

Here’s one idea – it;d be awesome if the fans could pull together and pull it off!

To “This is how we do it”

    ***During Play***
I’m kinda buzzed and its all because
(this is how we do it)
San Jose does it like nobody does
(this is how we do it)
    2001, 2003
    (We still got the trophies)
It’s a championship side, give up and cry

    ***After a goal***
I’m kinda buzzed and its all because
(this is how we do it)
    Arturo* scores like nobody does
(this is how we do it)
    Jason, Nick, & Corrales
(this is how we do it)
Sounders** attack is a laugh when the Quakes fall back

    * Whomever scored
    ** Whatever team we’re playing

Turn up the chants! on 08 Jun 2009 at 12:19 pm #
