Quakes FO to host Mexico-Sweden International Friendly

December 17th 2008

All,

The Quakes front office will be hosting the Mexican National Team as they begin their 2009 tour.  They will be playing Sweden at the Oakland Coliseum on January 28th.  The front office is putting together a special block of seats for Casbah and 1906-Ultras members.  This will allow us to enjoy the game, as well as make a showing in front of potential new Quakes fans and supporters group members.  If you are interested in going please contact me (casbahmel@gmail.com) and I will put you in contact with the appropriate ticket representatives with the Quakes.  For more infomation check out the Quakes Website

There will not be a dedicated Casbah or 1906 Ultras Section for the game due to lack of interest.

Quakes Loose Riley in Expansion Draft

November 26th 2008

As reported on the SoccerByIves website, the Seattle Sounders FC have picked up James Riley in the expansion draft.  Riley had a few shaky moment at the beginning of last season (namely the own goal) but seem to settle in as the season progressed.  I guess his strong performances towards the end of the season did not go unnoticed.  I was looking forward to seeing him in a Quakes uniform next year as I’m sure most of you were, but wish him well as he moves on to Seattle.

Pre-Game at Mondo Burrito

September 23rd 2008

All,

Some of the Casbah members will be gathering at Mondo Burrito before the game this Saturday (and probably all subsequent home games).  It’s a nice spot only about 2-1/2 blocks from the Stadium with a patio.  All are welcome to meet up there before the game for a burrito, beer, and to catch up with fellow Casbah Members.  Hopefully I’ll see you all there.

Believe Again!

August 21st 2008

Before “We Believe” became the slogan for the Warriors on their great playoff run it was the mantra of every Quakes fan. Beginning with the Quakes participation in the greatest game in MLS history, when they over came the Fallacy on a 4-0 aggregate goal differential Quakes fans had the feeling we would always overcome or at least the team would leave it all on the field. I am fully faithful to the team but must admit in the early part of the season I felt as though some of that old Quakes Magic was gone and my faith tested. After the last two games though I felt that magic return. The energy in the Casbah was much like those old nights at Spartan. There is no doubt the playoffs are in our future. Believe again friends!

VICTORY!!!

August 4th 2008

(Images from Nap, theprojectfc)

Is there anything sweeter than a Quakes victory? Maybe only when that comes against the SuperScum. And though we’re a long way off, the playoffs are now looking like a small light at the end of the tunnel. Huckerby was incredible down the left side, Arturo looked dangerous in front of goal and ripped through the seams of the defense, and Cochrane showed why the Quakes never give up! awwwhhh…..how sweetie it is!
