Return of the Quakes!!! (Quakes 2 - Dynamo 1)

Last night the Quakes returned….both those that formally wore the Quakes uniform and the passionate play our those now wearing the uniform. The Boys in Blue (um…Black) played with heart and tenacity. Last night our new boys looked to me more like “The Earthquakes” of old than those Quakes in disguise. Congrads guys, you made us all proud!
After reading some of the interview responses from Dom and some of our former players, it seems some of them were taken back by cheers from the fans. I’d like to just say to our former Quakes players (and Dom) we all respect your blood, sweat, and tears that you’ve given for us. You’ve set the bar for what we had come to expect of those wearing the Quakes jersey. You will never be forgotten (at least to me, despite sloans or chants from some). However I think we can all agree that it’s time to move forward. Ultimately the name on the front is more important than the names on the back.
All I can say is classic–I’m very sure the Houston players missed being here but when the newest incarnation of the Quakes came back they realized that they were going to become just another team here–much like Los Angeles, New York, Dallas and so forth. With a lot at stake, neither side could get too sentimental.
In any case, Onstad knew he was in enemy territory. As for Cannon–having him high five the crowd after the win really made everyone’s night. When The Joe was with Colorado I’m sure he knew he was going to be razzed at so that’s expected.
No matter what the Old Quakes are appreciated–however for 90 minutes if they wear the shirt of the team (such as Cochrane and Gray–and Cannon) they’ll be cheered–otherwise, have to see them lose.
Still, if any of the current Dynamo players want to come back here and don the blue (black) once more–they’re welcome here with open arms.
Bring on LA–next time the old Quakes/new Quakes meet is September for the Dynamo! YES!
