Casbah (Season Ticket) Seat Relocation @ Coliseum

May 6th 2008

All,

The front office has made arrangements to get us closer to the action and into an area where the players can really hear us rock.  See, the message below from Anthony Perry of the Earthquakes.  We will be moving to the other side of the stadium next to the tunnel and away from that blazing sun.  This will be our new location for the remaining games at the Coliseum.  Anthony will be sending the Galaxy fans into our old section so that will be away from the tunnel and without opportunities to throw stuff at our players as they exit the tunnel.  With this move the first thing our Boys in Blue will hear coming onto the field is the Casbah Rockin’ at full volume.

To make the transition you will need to turn in your 3 remaining season tickets and Anthony will send you 3 new tickets for the new section.

-Mel

Dear Casbah member,

The Earthquakes are happy to announce an exciting detail relating to season ticket holders sitting in the Casbah seating this year.  I was able to move the section from above the goal to the opposite side of the field (near where the Chicago fans were).  This will have better visibility for the group, be cooler during the summer, closer to the field, and near the players tunnel.  I need all season ticket holders to send me their 3 remaining game tickets (2 Galaxy and bonus game) ASAP so I can move the Galaxy fans into that section.

Please send your tickets to:

Hey All,

This Sunday (4/27) our San Jose Earthquakes will be playing NYRB, and there will be a viewing party for the game at the Downtown SJ Britannia Arms.  The game begins at noon on Telefutura.  Casbah will be having a general meeting at 11AM at the Brit.  At the meeting you will be able to pickup your Casbah scarf (if you have not done so already), and you’ll be able to purchase Casbah t-shirts printed by CalCustoms (limited number available).  The shirts will be quakes blue with a small Casbah logo on the front, a large one on the back, and “Rock the Casbah” on the back.

Also if you are interesting in becoming a leader/organizer in the Casbah please let me know and come talk to me at the meeting/viewing party.

See you all there!

Quakes achieve first goal, win, and shutout over Colorado

April 21st 2008

Wow…what a game Satuday! I was extremely proud of how our guys settled into the game and played throughout.  We finally have our first goal for the Quakes by Ronnie O’Brien, and our first shutout by “The Joe”. As well as an awesome first goal for Kei Kamara this season.  Let’s hope our guys keep this positive momentum going into next weekend’s game against New York.

Now, since Ronnie’s score the first goal for our rebirthed San Jose Earthquakes, he deserves he’s own cheer from the Casbah.  Any suggestions?

Ramblings from the old Guy - It’s all about the beaver.

April 14th 2008

On a dark November night back in 2003, our beloved Quakes were playing our hated rival from the southland and things were not looking good.
Already down 2-nil after the first leg of the series, the Quakes found themselves down 4-nil on aggregate just 15 minutes in.

It was during that time when the Quakes Blue Crew decided to pump up the depressed crowd with a giveaway.
Orchard Supply Hardware was a team sponsor, and that night they gave the Quakes little stuffed versions of their mascot to fans.

Their mascot was a beaver.

When I caught the thrown overall wearing rodent, I figured we now had something to entertain ourselves with. At the very least it would take our mind off what was happening on the field.

I started leading some tongue in cheek chants about the beaver. I mean, c’mon, there’s simple comedy gold in the stuffed double entendre.

Then Goose nailed the free kick into the goal in front of the Casbah…

By the time that historic game had ended, the beaver had become a magical talisman, a symbol of our good luck and fortune. I’ve brought it to all the Quakes games I’ve attended since that incredible night.
It’s all about the beaver y’all.

Home Openner 4/12 Info

April 8th 2008

The Quakes have planned a number of pre-game activies including, a video on the big screen, sky divers and our two MLS trophies being handed by SSV to Lew Wolff in a pre-game ceremony.  The full details can be found in this press release

There will be an informal “futsal” style pickup game between Chicago’s traveling Section 8 supporters and Quakes supporters.  If you would like to participate please let us know, questions@thecasbah.org.  We will meet up next to the Club Quake Tailgate.

Due to flight time rescheduling, the traveling Chicago supporters will most likely not get to the stadium with enough time for the pickup game to take place.  Apologies to all those you wanted to participate.

The Club Quake tailgate location is shown below.   There is no official Casbah Tailgate, however we had been invited to join the Club Quake tailgate.  If you are coming to the tailgate bring you own burgers (or hot dogs, etc.) and drinks.  Club Quake will supply the grill.

Parking lot gates will open at 10:30AM.  The pre-game festival will take place between lots A and D starting at 11AM.  The stadium games will open at noon.  The game begins at 1:30PM.

If you have not yet picked up your scarf, they will be available for pickup at the tailgate area.  If you have not yet joined the Casbah and would like to, we will also be taking memberships forms and dues.

See you all there!  Go Quakes!
